**** Quite catchy track from Enrique, but Sammy Adams doesn't add much to it for me.
And with that review I join the 1000 Club for reviews on this website. It feels great to get this far with only two days to go until my first year anniversary on this website. I hope there'll be many more reviews to come!
*** I find it interesting that Enrique's mini-comeback of this decade is speeding along so quickly, but I think it's very quickly dying down. Where a couple years ago, he was snagging hits seemingly effortlessly, but so shorttly after (possibly bad 'karma' from "Tonight") he's now pushed to the lower reaches of the charts. The status of legitimate hit looms further away to the point that it's near out of reach. I think it's fair to say that under normal circumstances, this would have certainly failed to reach the top 50 in Australia, unlike what it is set to do this following week. Even if it does gather momentum from this, it will be hard for me to feel like it is a proper hit.
I was initially wary of this song. Enrique's songs had increasingly slided towards the dull mark and there was no reason this would buck the trend. And yep, it sure isn't groundbreaking, but it does work for what it is. Although I find that it's filled with standard production motifs, there's something satisfying in it; the instrumental at the end of the chorus is quite nice for example. Enrique's vocals are fortunately not made devoid of personality, but I do find the rap verse a bit of a waste of time. Sits somewhere alongside Ne-Yo in the ignorable, but pleasant basket. 3.5
