**** The first taste of their album for the year wasn't the usual fare from The National, but that proved to be a sign to not expect the usual from this album. The strange musical opening is effective and leads into the track well before Matt's voice kicks in and everything feels right with the world. It's a poetic tale of heartbreak and Matt delivers a fantastic vocal which prefectly encapsulates the emotion of the lyrics. He's not the only vocalist though; Gail Ann Dorsey sings the bridge and her vocal is stunning in what turns out to be the peak of the track. |
